Consulting with IOA, Bravo administered an achievement-based program that gave participants a chance to earn a monthly insurance premium discount for meeting a health goal or making progress toward the goal. Bravo’s flexibility allowed IOA to leverage its existing wellness resources, tools and an educational newsletter already popular with employees. Each of these provided an additional layer of support for high-risk participants.
Participation has averaged 96.8 percent. Where national trends for obesity, hypertension and diabetes have increased year-over-year, IOA is seeing marked improvement. In addition to health improvement, premium costs have decreased each year.
